When Sony recently reviewed the internal components of the PlayStation 5, we learned about the location of the SSD, which Sony considers the source of the device’s strength, but according to the opinions of some technical analysts, it may also be the cause of the device’s death permanently.

According to what we have seen, the SSD disk in the new device will be integrated with the parent unit and cannot be changed or removed, and this may be a source of concern for many, only a report published by the notebookcheck website. If something malfunction occurs in the hard disk and fails to work, then this means the end of the device completely regardless of its condition If it's new.
The report added that the life span of SSD drives is measured by MTBF or (average time between failures) or TBW, which is an abbreviation for Terabytes Written, which is the number of times the files are deleted and copied on the hard disk after which the disk reaches the probability of failure.
The good news is that the MTBF and TBW values are usually very high before the failure occurs, for example, the Western Digital SN850 NVMe SSD has a value of 1 TB 600 TB, in other words, you should delete files and write them frequently on the SSD of your PlayStation 5 Until about 600 terabytes before the possibility of NAND memory degradation and making the drive unusable, assuming the TBW value to be the same, of course for most players, reaching this number will be almost impossible throughout the lifetime of the virtual machine.

Sony may provide an opportunity to install the operating system on the external expansion disk that can be installed in the device through the entrance designated for it, and if this possibility is provided, it will be a good opportunity for those unlucky ones who may fall into the problem of hard disk failure early and this will help them save the rest of the device But so far, there is no confirmation from Sony about the matter.
Are you starting to feel anxious about it?
